NATURE TOURS IN THE PYRENEES
With wild and beautiful habitats ranging from glaciers at 3400 metres to desert steppe just 100 km away, the Pyrenees is an exhilarating must for naturalists.
The Pyrenees is one of Europe´s most species rich areas with many endemic plants and butterflies and hundreds of bird species. Highlights include the huge Lammergeier or Bearded Vulture which has one of its few European strongholds in the Pyrenees, many orchids including the magnificent Ladies Slipper Orchid and endemic butterflies such as the Gavarnie Blue.
In a week of naturalising in the high valleys, foothills and steppe we´ll often see more than 100 bird species, 120 or so butterfly species and several hundred plant species!
