A Week in the Snow
For February and March 2009 8 days in the snow with cross country and back country* skiing and snow shoeing in the winter landscapes of the Hecho and Aragón Valleys.

*back country skiing is off piste cross country skiing and is a magical way to explore the mountain valleys in winter. We don´t take you on steep slopes, but stick to gentle gradients and the valley floors. Equipment is similar to cross country ski equipment but the boots are sturdier and the skis are wider and shorter in order to ski more easily on deep ungroomed snow. Metal edges, absent on cross country skis, also help when turning and when traversing across slopes.

The Camino de Santiago in Aragón

This unusual walk takes in the lesser known routes of the Camino Aragonés, one of the most authentic pilgrimage routes to Santiago. Discover the spectacular mountain scenery of the high Pyrenees and Foothills, the marvellous Romanesque cathedral at Jaca and the mysterious monastery of San Juan de la Peña, legendary resting place for the Holy Grail.

The idea is to explore the highlights of the Aragonese route, with deviations off the beaten track to hidden sights that the ordinary pilgrim can never visit. We use ancient footpaths, from a Roman road onwards to discover the most original, exciting and unknown parts of Northern Spain.

Foothills and High Valleys
This trip combines walking in two beautiful, very different areas of the Pyrenees. In the Foothills we follow paths through a gorgeous mediterranean landscape dominated by cliffs and lofty pinnacles from where, a thousand years ago, the reconquista of the plains of Aragon began. Higher up we explore wild mountain valleys, lower alpine pastures and mixed forests. As well as beautiful landscapes there is plenty of human and historical interest with small farming villages, a roman road, pilgrim routes and many medieval buildings.
