| To help you choose a holiday that is well suited to your capabilities our vulture grading system lets you know what level of walking to expect on each tour. Grading is highly subjective so please don't compare our vultures with grades in other brochures. If in doubt please call us for advice. |

2 VULTURES |
Can be enjoyed by anyone who is fit and active and enjoys a good day in the hills. Max. height gain 500m, max. distance 15km, duration of walks between 5 - 7 hours. Be prepared for rocky paths.
Previous hillwalking experience is desirable, for example walking up Helvellyn in the Lake District. Max. height gain 1,000m (average 400m). Max. distance 17km, max. time 8.5 hours. Mostly good paths although some rocky terrain and some steep ascents and descents.
A good standard of fitness and stamina is needed to enjoy our 4 vulture trekking holidays. Walking is of a similar level and in similar terrain to 3 vulture holidays but on some days you need to carry a rucksack with sleeping bag and a change of clothes which makes the walking more arduous.
The Pyrenean Traverse has some long days. Max. height gain 1,800m, max. distance 30km, max. time 8.5 hours. Some stages require carrying a rucksack with sleeping bag and clothes.
WINTER
A good standard of fitness, equivalent to 3 vultures, is required for 'A Week in the Snow Holiday', which is designed for beginner and intermediate cross-country skiers.
RIDING
These holidays are aimed at fit riders with the experience and stamina to enjoy long days in the saddle (about 25km, 5/7 hours), some fast sections and to deal with riding over varied, often rough terrain. On some sections you will need to dismount and lead your horse and you should be happy to walk uphill along rocky paths.
